Hello Peter, It depends a bit on your keyboard. I have the é simply under the 2 on my 'Belgian' azerty keyboard. • Under the Mac OS you can install keyboards in the System Prefs > Personal > Country or International There is also the Palette with letter signs (lettertekenpalet) and the Keyboard image, both can be used to insert special signs into a text (though with X11 they don't always come through). • Inside OpenOffice.org, you can use Insert > Special signs to insert a é into you text, at least when the font type you're using supports it.
