Hi there
I like using open office, great product, but whyc ant microsoft office open any of the open office documents? (I understand open office can open Microsoft office documents, but not the other way round). Will there be any future amendments to the compatabiltiy of Open office and Microsoft office??

OpenOffice, by default, saves in the ISO standard ODF file formats, which Microsoft refuses to support. If you want others to be able to open the files, in Microsoft Office, you will have to use "Save as", to select an appropriate file format, from the drop down list. Also, verify automatic file name extension is enabled. If you don't expect the recipient to edit the file, you can also export a PDF file instead. You can also recommend the other people install the Sun ODF plug-in, which will enable Microsoft Office to work with ODF files or perhaps suggest they also install OpenOffice.
