While it is possible to delete documents while in OpenOffice, that's not the way it's usually done. You can delete OpenOffice files in the same way as any other files. Assuming you're running Windows, use Windows Explorer to find the file and then delete it. If you still wish to delete them, while in OpenOffice, use File > Open to locate the file and then delete it from that panel.
