My question centers around the fact that I cannot take my pc with me
everywhere. In light of this, I am in the process of converting a rather
old laptop to function as a DSL rig. I'm sure that this is probably a
stupid question, but is the file saves made w/in the Linux format of Open
Office readable by the xp version?
I thank you in advance for your help.
Yes....no problem.
Fred
OOo is a Good choice for novel writers. Piers Anthony writes up to 4
books a year using Linux machines and since his current 64 processor linux
system
cannot support their modem, he has a Windows system that uses OOo as
well. He transfers the files back and forth using a USB thumb drive.
What is a DSL rig? I only know of a DSL as a digital subscriber line. I
hated
my DLS connection ahd switched to a cable modem line. Verizon Telephone
wanted to charge me for replaceing their bad modem. There modem, not mine.
So if you are a writer, OOo is a good choice. If you need to transer files
from linux to windows, use a usb card drive ( I have 2 one-gig cards
drives).
Of course if you network your computers with a router, you should be able
to network all your computers, linux and windows, together. That is whay I
did.
Laptop and server with several pre 2004 computers as well.
