I assume you are using Windows; if not, these instructions won't be accurate and you'll need to tell us which version of which Operating System you are using. Installing OpenOffice is a 3 step process: 1. Download the installer file; you seem to have done this already. 2. Run the installer file (by double clicking on it as per normal). This will create a folder of your choice and, within that folder, a lot of files including one named "setup.exe". You ask that this folder be created on your desktop if you like. 3. Run the "setup.exe" program created in #2. This should happen automatically. The program will ask you several questions. Answer them. At the end of the procedure OpenOffice will be installed, typically in a folder down the "C;\program files\OpenOffice ...." path; exactly where is up to you as determined by the answer to one of the questions you got asked. If you choose, icons for the different components of OpenOffice will be created on your desktop and/or your Start menu and/or your Task Bar. Having done all that you can now delete the installer file and the folder & files created in #2. All you need are the folders and files created in #3. For more details please read the Installation Instructions linked to from the right hand side of the download page. -- Harold Fuchs London, England Please reply *only* to [email protected]
