I have attempted to install Versions 1.1. and 2.1. from the website and neither one of them worked. Both copies were said to be corrupted or damaged and unable to be used. I have Windows and just want to use the word processor.

I'd suspect the problem may be with whatever is saying those files are corrupt, rather than the files themselves. However, you can verify the integrity of those files with md5sum, by following the instructions on the web site. If the md5sums match, the files are verified intact and valid.

BTW, did you get those files from www.openoffice.org, or somewhere else?
