Many thanks for replying to my request for help. I was trying the Windows version but still getting nowhere. Someone suggested trying the portable version of OO & this worked first time.

Wendy > Did you download the Windows version? When you download OpenOffice, you have to chose from Windows, Linux, Mac, etc. versions. If you get the wrong one, it won't install. After you download the Windows version, you then have to double click on that file, to start the installation. -- Use OpenOffice.org
