Hi,
I recently download openoffice which is really good, but when i tried to send a text document typed in open office the recipicent was unable to open the document (they have microsoft word) and i was wondering is this document compatable with microsoft word?

OpenOffice, by default, saves in the ISO standard ODF file formats, which Microsoft refuses to support. To open your documents in Microsoft Office, you'll have to save in Microsoft file formats. To do this, when you use "Save as", select the appropriate file format from the drop down list. Also ensure that automatic file name extension has been selected. You might also suggest the people receiving your documents install OpenOffice or the Sun ODF plug-in, which will enable Microsoft Office to read and write ODF documents. If the document is intended to be read only and not modified, you can also create a PDF, which everyone can read.
