Hello, If you created documents with OpenOffice and saved them in the Open Document format (.odt), then you will need to use OpenOffice to convert the documents in .doc format (File > save as > ...). All the .doc documents should be automatically associated with word when you install it, if not you will need to change the file association manually from windows explorer. No need to uninstall OpenOffice.
