Yes, it does.
The Mac porting pages of OpenOffice.org start here:

You can begin with some reading of the How-To's
The download comes from here:
http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/download/x11-104.html

With Leopard, the X11 windowing utility already comes installed by
default. It sits in your Programs>Utilities folder.
The X11 version on Leopard is quite new and not yet entirely bug-free.
If, when starting up OpenOffice, you get a time-out message, it may
help to start X11 first, then OOo.

X11 is also used by other open source programs like the Gimp.
The Mac porting team is working on an Aqua version (without X11) that
should be ready later this year. Experimental versions are already
available, but not stable enough for serious production work.
