Quick question: when I exit a presentation in the middle (for example to demo some software), impress always ends up back at the original slide selected at the start (set to "current" slide) not at the point where I actually exited. This creates a mad scramble to find where I left off to select a new "current" slide and restart the presentation - not a
good look :)

At one point it worked like I am expecting, but with build 2.3.1.2 its as above. Is there a way to force this version to restart a presentation at the point where I exited from?

I don't see how to do this, but I can offer some workarounds.

o You imply that you are leaving Impress open whilst you are carrying out the demonstration. There may be no need, then, to exit the slide show itself. Just treat it like any other window and swap to the application you need to demonstrate. You can do this in Windows using Alt+Tab; I imagine that there are similar facilities in other operating systems.

o You may be able to find the required slide more easily and with less of a "mad scramble" by using the Navigator. Go to Edit | Navigator (or Ctrl+Shift+F5), select the correct starting slide, and then run the slide show - perhaps using F5.

o It will be easier to find the correct slide if you give the slides (or perhaps a select few of them) meaningful names - instead of "Slide 1" and so on, that is. To do this, right-click on the slide itself and select Slide > | Rename Slide or right-click on the image in the Slide Pane and select Rename Slide.

o Another useful technique may be always to start the slide show at the first slide - which could then be a title slide and which would provide a "good look" even for a resumption of the slide show. You could then use right-click *in the slide show itself* in order to jump to your actual required starting point - using Go to Slide >. Again, having meaningful slide names would help here.

I trust this helps.
