How can I fix this without having to download this all over again? It took me 7

Which version of OpenOffice? Exactly where did you download it from?
Exactly what were the error messages? Which files? Without this level of
detail it is highly unlikely we can help you.
The official download, from www.openoffice.org is only *one* file, so
something strange is happening for you to receive error messages about
three files.
If you have a slow/unreliable/expensive internet connection you might
want to consider getting OpenOffice on a CD. There's a list of potential
suppliers on the download page. Expect to pay not more than about USD10
to cover the vendor's cost of producing the CD plus P&P. Please note
that we have no connection to any of the listed vendors, we make no
recommendations and we supply no guarantees. Any dispute would be
entirely between you, the vendor and, possibly, your credit card company
if you pay that way and depending on the [consumer protection] laws in
force where you live.
OpenOffice is also frequently distributed on the CDs/DVDs that come free
with computer magazines. Just make sure you get a magazine relating to XP.
