Just wondering, sadly looking through old magazines: is any chance that
OpenOffice will be able to pick the technique that allowed you, when
going through the list of document, to 'view' without actually opening
the document? (Bit like some setups for Outlook?)
In Windows, I can see the first place of OOo documents when in
"thumbnail" view, when looking at a folder or in the standard Windows
open-file dialog. I /think/, but am not sure, that this started to
happen when I installed Lotus Symphony, which is a new version of OOo,
still in beta, by IBM. I can't speak to other operating systems. If,
instead of a thumbnail, you want to see a full-sized preview, I'm not
sure it's practical. In a mail program, all the messages are typically
stored in one large file, as is, and it's trivial to jump from one
message to another; opening a OOo document isn't so cheap.
