For a quick count of words in any section of your document, select that
section and then use Tools -> Word Count. This provides a count of
characters and words for both the section and the entire document.
You can also use File -> Properties..., select the Statistics tab and
mouse-press “Update” to get a count of lines in the document.
The only way I know to get a count of lines in a section would be to
select the segment, copy it, paste it into a new document, and then use
File -> Properties... in that new document. It would not be difficult to
write a macro to count lines in a section, and perhaps someone has done
so, though I can’t find one at the moment.
