I am a college student. i cound not afford Microsoft office. Friend
of mine introduced me to open office today. I downloaded it and he
told me what form to save things in because my teachers use Office
2007. I like very much just need help in saving in formats. Do you
have a book to download or sell.
If you want to save in Microsoft Office formats for ever more (or at
least by default for ever more) then:
1. Select Tools->Options from the menus. The Options window should
pop up.
2. In the left hand pane of the Options window, select Load/Save-
>General. The bottom section of the right hand pane should be
labelled "Default file format".
3. For each document type you are interested in, and you probably
want to do the set if you are going to do any of them, select the
Document Type and then the format you want to use from the "Always
save as" menu. Office 2007 options seem to be available for Text,
Spreadsheet, and Presentation, but not for Master document, Drawing,
and Formula.
4. Click the OK button when you are done.
If you want to stick to the default OpenDocument formats wherever you
can and only save in Microsoft Office formats for your teachers, then
instead of using File->Save (or Control+S), use File->Save As... and
select the format for the individual file. In fact, the first time
you save an untitled document at all the window that prompts you for
the file name has an option to specify the file format (a.k.a. "file
type").
