Yes, with two asterisks. The current stable version for Mac [2.3]
has issues with Leopard's Java, which will lead to some shortcomings
with Base [our database module]. Version 2.4, which is expected
soon, will solve that. Also, the stable version of OpenOffice
currently requires the 'X11' GUI. Leopard has X11 installed by
default, but that version has significant problems. The open source
version of X11 gets updated every few weeks, and is available from:
http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/xquartz/wiki/Releases . Grab the
most recent X11 package [currently 2.1.4] to improve your OpenOffice
experience. There is also a test version of OpenOffice that bypasses
X11 in favor of OS X's built in 'Aqua' GUI, but it is not considered
stable. If you wish to try it, however, it is available. There is
another project [NeoOffice] that uses OpenOffice source code to
compile an Aqua native version, but they are not otherwise associated
with us. Their versions run behind ours [they currently offer V2.2]
Thank you,
Joe Conway
