I assume you want to use a word processor. You can download OpenOffice, at no charge, from www.openoffice.org. OpenOffice is a full office suite that is comparable to and compatible with Microsoft Office. The word processor component is called "Writer". You didn't say what format is needed for your projects. The default for OpenOffice is the ISO standard ODF formats, which Microsoft refuses to support. If your projects have to be opened in Microsoft Office, you'll have to select the appropriate file format, when you use Save as. Also ensure automatic file name extension is selected. Another possibility, is to export a PDF file.
