I cannot get the sound to work in Impress and am using Microsoft Vista.

What operating system are you using? It appears that you may be using
Linux from your description, but we need to know if this is the case or not.
There is an extra program that has to be installed if you are using the Linux
version.
Please send another email to this mailing list: [EMAIL PROTECTED] In
it mention that you can not get the sound to work in Impress and also mention
what operating system you have.
