OpenOffice runs happily on Vista.

Different from what? Different from Microsoft office? Yes. The documentation for OpenOffice is at http://documentation.openoffice.org/ It contains lots of "getting started" guides and other useful information for beginners. There is also a "migration guide" for those moving to OpenOffice from Microsoft Office.

Some of the main differences:
* OpenOffice is free to download and use on as many computers as you like in whatever context (business, personal, government, education ...) you like. * Documentation for OpenOffice is free via download although there are books for sale for those who prefer that format.
* Support, via this email list and other forums, is free.
* OpenOffice documents conform to international standards as laid down by the International Standards Organisation (ISO).

Good luck.
