You can use both side by side until you are happy with OpenOffice. You just need to decide which program opens which type of document when you double click on a document. OpenOffice can handle all the Microsoft Office formats except the latest "2007" format: .docx, .pptx and so on. If you remove MS Office then you also lose Outlook's and Outlook Express's ability to check the spelling of your e-mails. See http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/361332-solved-outlook-express-6-spell.html Also "You can download "Spell Checker for OE 2.1" for Free at the link below. It's compatable with all versions of Windows. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2952" from http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6138_102-0.html?forumID=31&threadID=14058&messageID=159207 I use ABCSpell (not free) from www.isota.com (I'm not connected to that company other than as a customer). -- Harold Fuchs London, England Please reply *only* to [email protected]
