I posted this problem to the wrong forum. Please read my issue below. I am
trying to recover a *.odt file.

Thanks,
Rene

I use stuffit utility, still not clear about getting more file(s) back then
what I started with? When I zip and then unzip the *.odt, I have only one
file. If I understand correct, there are file(s) generated or hidden after
compressing/extracting the *.odt file? Be happy to send you the file.

Rene using 2.3.1

To clarify the instructions that were given in an earlier message: it
is your .odt file that you should be able to unzip. Depending on what
programme you're using for unzipping, you may need to first rename
your file from something.odt to something.zip.

If you successfully unzip your document, then one of the files that is
extracted will be called content.xml. You can examine it using Notepad
or any other plain-text editor. In principle you can edit it and then
rezip all of the files back together again to make a new .odt file.
In practice it can be challenging to make sense of what you see in
content.xml.

Since OOo Writer should not lock up, regardless of how corrupted the
input file is, you might want to report this as a bug
(http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/project_issues.html).

You may be better off asking for help on the [email protected] list
rather than this discuss@ list.
