Well, as usual, stupid user tricks are at fault here. I had decided
that I was tired of the icons Gnome was using on the desktop. Soooo, I
changed them from Gnome to Tango in
System->Preferences->Appearance->Customize->Icons. I like the fat blue
ones better. Little did I realize the consequences of my actions. I
just didn't see the link between the two. Why would changing the
desktop icon style effect OpenOffice.org? I guess I can understand that
because OOo is paying attention to the desktop settings.
