If you don't get any satisfactory replies here, you may want to try the
developers list. I discovered a few days ago that to print an OOo
document, I don't really need to have it open in a window. It can be
printed directly from command line! Perhaps there is a command line
option to convert the templates as well. If so, a little script can do
the conversion for all of your templates automatically.
