Which version (e.g., US English)?
What operating system are you running?
What language are your documents in?
If you go to Tools->Options->Language Settings->Languages, what is
selected under "Default languages for documents"?
Select a bit of text that you think isn't being spell-checked. If you go
to Format->Character->Font, what does it say under "Language"?
