Hello, I am using version open office org 2.3 I have over written a file. It asked me if I wanted to replace the file and I stupidly said yes. I have taken it to a computer shop but they could not find the original in temporary files. Do you know if there is a way to retrieve it? Thank you Tess Alton
Disk file creation and writing is a function of and is controlled by your computer's OS (Operating System - eg. Linux, Mac, Solaris, Windows, etc.). Just the action of using your computer has possibly overwritten the disk area that contained your original file several times. Even with the necessary specialist software tools, it is unlikely that your original file could be adequately recovered.
Unfortunately, you have just discovered the first of the ten golden rules of computing, the hard way.
Rule 1: Always make backup copies of your important data. Rules 2 - 10: Always make backup copies of your important data. Sorry, but there is nothing more we can do to assist you.
