OO on the Mac currently depends upon an interface known as 'X11'.
Unfortunately, the X11 included in Leopard is somewhat experimental
and suffers from many problems included the dreaded "Command Timed
Out". Make sure you have updated Leopard [currently 10.5.3]. Some
users swear by pre-starting X11 [/Applications/Utilities/X11]. I
should hope that either or both of tips would get it started. If
not, report back and give us some more details.
