Dear James:
I have a quick question for you. Will Open Office open Power point
prepared email attachments. A friend is receiving a lot of pictures
from around Canada and the World, but can not presently open the
attachments. I would download Open Office to his computer if it would
work for him. Could you please let me know.
I would much appreciate your help so i can help him. Please let me
know how to use the program to accomplis this or wether it could be
done so thatb it would automaticaly do the opening process upon
attempting to open an attachment. The automatic process would help
since neither of us is a computer whiz. Once i set it up for him he
would be o.k. with it. I'm 66 years old and he is 77 years old. We
could use as much help as possible.
Thanks for your time and kind cooperation.
Yours: A. Stephan Lanczi.
OpenOffice can read & write PowerPoint presentations, except for those
created in the new Office 2007 format (.PPTX etc.). When it's
installed, OpenOffice will set itself as the default application for
Microsoft Office files, unless you change those settings. This means
that as soon as you double click on a PowerPoint file, it will open in
OpenOffice. The same should occur with email, though some email
applications may have additional settings to configure.
BTW, this sort of question is best sent to the mail list
[email protected], rather than to a specific participant, so that
others can contribute their advice.
