HI, I HAVE BOUGHT A NEW COMPUTER TO USE FOR WORKING FROM HOME. I HAVE DOWNLOADED "OPEN OFFICE 2.3" ALL SEEMS FINE. I DO NOT WANT MY NEXT NUMBERED SENTENCE MOVED AWAY FROM THE LEFT SIDE MARGIN AND I WOULD LIKE TO DO MY OWN NUMBERING. HOW DO I SET THE THING UP SO THAT IT JUST DOES WHAT I WOULD LIKE IT TO DO. I FEEL LIKE PUTTING MY FIST THROUGH THE THING WHEN THIS HAPPENS. PLEASE HELP OR IS THIS HOW THINGS ARE WITH COMPUTERS. I AM 55 AND KNOW NOTHING ABOUT SETTING THE THING UP. GOING TO "HELP" IS AS MUCH GOOD AS STANDING IN FRONT OF A RUNAWAY BUS. REGARDS, FRANK. Hi Frank, The first thing you need to do is buy a new keyboard. The one you have only uses capital letters. It sounds like you are using a numbered list which is doing precisely what it is supposed to do. When you type in a numbered line, it thinks you are trying to use a numbered list and so it is actually trying to help you. You can turn this off by clicking on FORMAT and then click on BULLETS AND NUMBERING. You can also set your preferences to not automatically do stuff. Once you get the hang of it, you will really appreciate the power and capability, especially considering the price.
