My problem is that I often have to write emails in French so I need a grammar and spellchecker that will work with Outlook Express, wiil Open Office do this? I have Microsoft Works but not Word and Works doesn't work with Outlook. Thanks for the info, Anthony Brown
There are dictionaries for many different languages available for OO.o. You can install the French dictionary, then when you write a message in Writer, you can spell check it, and then email it directly from Writer. If you are using Windows, OO.o will use the default email program. Alternatively, you can save the file, open the email program, and attach the file. Unfortunately, non MS programs like OO.o can not directly be integrated with Outlook because MS keeps that information secret. Not everyone can open an open documented file, therefore you need to select a format that your recipient can read. If your recipient needs to edit the file and only has MS software, you will need to select the Word format from the Save AS or Send As menu. You will also need to make sure the automatic file extension option is selected. If your recipient only needs to read the file, you can export the file as a PDF file. Anyone with the free Adobe Reader or similar software can open and read the file. Of course, if your recipient has open office, you can send the file in the OO.o native format.
I'm not sure if a grammar checker is available. If one is, it can be installed and used just like the dictionary.
