I'm sure that there must be a way to do this, but I've not figured it out yet. Here is what you can do: 1. Along the right edge of the Slides pane, in the middle of the edge you will find a tiny button. Hover your mouse over it and it will show "Hide". Instead of hiding (it will just reappear when you open a new presentation), use your mouse to click & hold - then resize the window left until it is merely a grey bar. 2. Do the same to the Tasks pane - left border/edge. Click and size right. Now when you open a new presentation the panes will be minimized to the size you set them to. They'll be out of your way, and when you need them, just resize. Don't forget to put them back to minimal before you close the presentation.
