Please provide the *exact* text of the message you see. OpenOffice doesn't require activation. Windows does, though and will prompt you to do it. Modern versions anyway. Have you activated your Windows installation? If you don't then I believe your Windows will stop working after a while. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307890 which seems to say you have 30 days. OpenOffice likes you to *register*, which is not at all the same as activation, but it's not mandatory; if that's what you are seeing, just say "already registered".
