That is an operating system preference. The easiest way to change that setting is to right-click on a document, choose Open With, choose the application that you prefer to have open the file, and then choose "save this setting" or something to that effect. You do not mention which operating system you use, but on Ubuntu I recommend Koffice as a decent alternative to OpenOffice. > Will Open Office eventually open MS xms files?
