Could you please explain the legal difference between a single vertical line and a double? I cannot find any mention of a legal requirement to use one of the other. I do see that some jurisdictions require specific typesets, but nothing pertaining to the dollar sign itself. While googling the subject, I found on the unicode mailing list mention that the American currency does not have the dollar sign on it at all. A picture seems to confirm this: http://blogs.sfweekly.com/thesnitch/US-Dollar-USD-10-5-1-bills-Greenbacks-worn-front-and-back-ANON.jpg Lastly, when you create a document in MS Office on the same computer, do you see a double-barred dollar sign? If so, check what font you are using. Set the same font in OOo. Post back here so that we will know, too. Thanks.
