Dear Sirs,
I have just downloaded open office on the advice of the supplier of my

be much appreciated. Many thanks. Janet Weale.

OpenOffice can open .pps files so I'm surprised that you are having a
problem. The only thing OpenOffice cannot do is automatically to run these
files in the same way that Powerpoint does. However, you can overcome this
by installing an "extension" to Openoffice. It's free from
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/ImpressRunner

Once you have downloaded it, run Impress (OpenOffice's presentation
component) and do Tools>Extension Manager>Add. Then browse to the extension
you just downloaded and let OpenOffice install it.

If you still have difficulties come back here with details. If you do,
please tell us whuich version of OpenOffice you are using, which version of
Windows you are using and *exactly* what happens when you try to open a .pps
attachment, especially including the exact text of any error messages.

I think the problem is that she is trying to run from her email client.
She'll probably need to save the pps attachment to disk first in order
to run.
