[users] would someone please tell me why spell check doesn't work

I have tried everything to get the spell checker to work in english. it's  
shame to have such a good program available and there is something within the 
program that is so simple and I can't get it to work It beats microsoft office 
by a country mile. This is frustrating as hell. Sorry about my lack of 
sophistication on this but I have been playing with it for 3 hrs without 
success
