a.. I'm using version 2.2 of OpenOffice.org. My problem is : In the last few days, when I
try to open any recent archive(a Writer archive, for instance), this cannot be done
directly, as ever. Now I always have to select the program to open it in a new window.
Moreover, these archives don't appear in "Recent elements". I should be
grateful if you could help me to solve this problem. Thank you.
I assume you are using Windows; if not, ignore this message but tell us
what you are using.
It sounds as if something has changed the "File Association" which links
the filenam'e "extension" (.doc, .odt, and so on) to the program you
want to use when you open a file with that extension.
Right click on one of your files and select Properties. Then click the
Genral tab. Near the top is a button that lets you change the program
used to open the file. Click that button, browse to "soffice.exe" in
whichever folder you installed OpenOffice - probably c:\program
files\openoffice.org 2.2\program and select it as the program to use.
You might need to do this once for each *type* of file: Writer, Impress,
Calc, Base, Draw.
Of course, if this doesn't work, come back here with details of what you
did and what happened, especially including the exact text of any error
messages you get.
