After my last brain-scan, the radiologist's report stated "unrecognised format"

explain *exactly*:
a) From which web site did you download the software?
b) How did you register?
On a web page? Which one?
Via e-mail? To which address?
Elsehow? How exactly?
c) Which web page do you regard as the "extension" page?
OpenOffice is free software. Download it from "www.openoffice.org".
There are two *main* sources of extensions:
a) http://extensions.openoffice.org/
b) http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/
To paraphrase an authoritative answer to a similar question just recently:

If you are referring to registering on the main OpenOffice.org web site,
you need to send an email to webmaster 'at' openoffice.org and ask about
your registration problem, I'm sure they can clear it up for you. The
webmasters there have been a bit busy with updates to the site, so that

FYI - there really is nothing you can't do on the as a visitor (while
you wait to get this cleared up) with the exception of filing bug
reports. All of features should be available without requiring a log in.
