Hi! I run OpenOffice Portable 2.2 from a flash memory. The system is
MS Windows.
I have installed extra dictionary and it works. No problem here. And
I can find .dic and .aff files in
..\OpenOfficePortable\App\openoffice\share\dict\ooo.
Now I try to make small modification to .dic file. But removal of
word, modification of flags or inserting of new word does not change
spell checker behavior. Restarting PC does not help. I can ensure
that .dic file was indeed edited and change is in line with spell
checker documentation.
Does OO translate dictionary files and keeps copies in other
location? What is a correct procedure to modify dictionary (not
simply add new word to user dictionary).

Kris
Hi Kris
My understanding is that the dictionaries are "munched" using hunspell,
so to modify them you would need the original word list, which you could
edit and then "munch."
If you are serious about it, I suggest asking on the lingucomponent
list, where you can probably find the provider of your dictionary.
