Besides, nobody seems to know how to keep OO/linux from opening
in full screen, which I hate.
I've never encountered that. I suspect that it's something in
your user profile. Rename your .openoffice.org2 profile to
something else (preferably x-.openoffice.org2-x) and restart OOo.
Did exactly that. It seemed to recreate the same stuff that was
there before, including some .wav files -- like
berlintakemybreatheaway.wav that I've never heard of and don't
want. What's that for, anyway?
So I started hunting through the sub-sub-sub-sub-etc.directories
hoping to find something that specifies the size. I gave up. The
structure is <ugh> windows-like.
It wouldn't be so bad if all it took was a click in the middle box
to switch to not-full-screen, but (a) it's already not-full-screen
and (b) it's BIGGER than full screen, which means a struggle to
find an edge, drag it out to find a corner to resize it, resize it
and then move it back to a reasonable place on the screen.
I'm pretty sure it didn't do this before the last 2 updates.
I'm pretty sure your installation is screwed up.
Downloaded it from the website. rpm --nodeps, probably; rpms can never
find the slackware dependencies, although they're always there -- I've
checked numerous times. Previous versions came from the slackware site,
but I didn't want to wait. Maybe I should have. What could go worng?
If deleting/renaming your profile doesn't work, then your basic
install is messed up. There is no "berlintakemybreatheaway.wav"
included with OOo. What linux are you running
slackware 11, fvwm95
and what version is your OOo?
2.4.0 Files in the install directory are dated March 14, but the soffice
link is dated March 28. I updated as soon as urged.
Note: just doing the about OOo won't do, go to where your OOo is
installed and look for versionrc - open that and report back the info
in the file.
bb:/opt/openoffice.org2.4/program>cat versionrc

And perhaps start a new thread? :-)
Sorry, I just changed the subject before. All better now.
Here's what's in the gallery subdirectory:
