[users] how to parse data in open office calc

Hi - I have looked in all the Help files and support pages at openoffice.org 
and cannot find any instructions on how to parse data (what Microsoft Excel 
calls "text to columns"). Please let me know if this is possible in open office 
calc and how to do it.
