2.- In MS-Access, I can make a Main Menu to entry at the table(s) of database and reports, Can I make the same with OpenOffice???
Hello Jorge,
( Please respond to the email list address and not my personal email
address )
Well the short answer to both questions is yes.
For both though a little more information would help.
Question 1. Can you describe what you have done and how it is not
working? There are plenty of examples of this in different venues, so
just show me exactly what you are trying and I can point you to the
appropriate example.
Question 2 Are you referring to creating an MS Access style
'switchboard' form, or a generic 'How do I open a form from a button?.
While I wait to hear from you - Base does not have a built in
'switchboard' wizard as does MS Access. Nor does it, currently, support
a way to designate a particular form to open, when the database is
opened to the desktop. However you can open forms with a script and this
can be called from a menu or a tool button on a tool bar or from a
button on another form. Same holds for reports. Again there are examples
available, simple and not so simple - so let me know what your end use
is please?
On the subject of reports - there is an extension available that will
allow you to run reports from a dialog, available via a menu or toolbar.
For instance, if you are generating reports for your office and you want
to allow your users to easily launch these reports without having to go
into the database. It happens to be written in basic, a bit beyond total
newbie maybe, but a decent reference perhaps.

NOTE: to other list members - forgive the promotion please. ALSO, since
there is a good number of linux users here. The extension will not print
Report Wizard generated files using the current 2.3.0-ubuntu5.3
distribution of OO.o. ( that is a problem with the OOo package ) I hope
to have a verson 1.1.0 of the extension up this weekend that will offer
a workaround for that problem so that they do print properly - OO.o
2.3.1 / 2.4 downloaded from www.openoffice.org under linux does not have
the problem.
