One thing you must realize is that everything is going online. We already do

web-based email, online banking, online shopping, and now software is moving

online. The benefits of having software online is as follows:

1) Prevents piracy.
2) You always have the lastest version without downloading and installing
updates.
3) You don't have to wait for it to come out on CD.
4) You can access your files and the software from any computer in the world

with an internet connection.

Lisi, although I agree that there can be benefits to having certain software
online, the idea that everything I ever write is even temporarily stored on
someone else's system/server is utterly repugnant to me. This would mean a
complete loss of privacy. This disadvantage more than offsets any
"convenience" you mention.

As an aside, and without elaboration, We, the People have traded much of our
liberty, a permanent characteristic, for promises of safety, which can never
be fulfilled, and for various conveniences, which are fleeting. Poor trade,
in my opinion. And, it's only my opinion! :):)

Also, we almost never have to wait anymore for any software to come out on
CD, as most software is not available via download. So that "reason" seems
mythical, to me.

Best,
Elchanan
