Sorry but I don't think I understand the point you are making. Microsoft has chosen, for whatever reasons, to bundle an e-mail/news program with its office suite. Sun has chosen, also for whatever reasons, not to. It's very nice to hear that Sun is assisting Mozilla with the development of Thunderbird etc. but it doesn't *yet* help the OOo user wanting e-mail or PIM software. If and when OOo comes bundled (and integrated*) with Thunderbird and/or Lightning I'll be very happy to point newbies at that bundle. * Integration: - I believe that, for example, Thunderbird can use the same spell-checking dictionaries that OOo uses. But you currently need *separate* copies of those dictionaries and have to add your special words to each. Whatever criticisms one might make of Microsoft it at least presents an intergrated inteface to the user in this regard. - As another example will one be able to use an OOo template as a template in Thunderbird? Styles? Links from an e-mail to some form of "anchor" in the middle of an OOo Writer document on the web? MS allows one to use Word as the "editor" for Outlook e-mails. By analogy, will one be able to use OOo to create Thunderbird e-mails? - Will one be able to sync a PDA with Thunderbird? Outlook syncs with Windows Mobile. -- Harold Fuchs London, England Please reply *only* to [email protected]
