The only thing that springs to mind is that your disk is too full
because after uninstalling OpenOffice you did not delete the installer
file (which you downloaded) and the folders/files into which it unpacked
itself during the installation procedure. The "Remove" part of Windows
Add/Remove Software does exactly that. It removes installed software. It
does *not* remove the software that did the installing - it can't
because it doesn't know where that software is or even if it's still on
the computer.
You can check how full your disk is by going to My Computer, *right*
clicking on the disk's icon and choosing Properties. You will see a pie
chart showing how much of the disk is in use and how much is free. If
the disk is nearly full, delete the files & folders I mentioned above
and then run the Disk Cleanup program by clicking the button next to the
pie chart.
