OpenOffice.org Base does not support the .wdb file format. To work the
data contained within those files you must export the data, just open
each and select save as, to a CSV, TXT or dBase IV file format, from
within Works, first. Dbase is the best choice, IMO, and files will be
named .dbf
When you start Base then, select 'Connect to existing databse" and in
the drop down for type select dBase. On the next page select the
directory where you saved the .dbf files and finish up. When the Base
file is opened the files will each be listed as a separate table.
NOTE - at this point the data is NOT in a native Base relational
database, but simple dBase flat files. If you want to take the process
to the next step and import these to a relational database that can be
done also. The best thing would be to get the files to this stage first,
then let the list know you are ready and one of us can help you with the
last step. ( for that matter you might want to look at why you might
want to do that, it may be that there is no benefit to it actually and
leaving the data as is, is the better choice - again just ask on the
list here )
