The shortcuts on your desktop are still pointing to the old OOo, which no longer exists (it has been overwritten by the upgrade. You can safely delete them. Open Office does not itself put shortcuts on the desktop. However, if you go into your Start menu and look in 'All programs', you will be able to access Open Office from there. You can also copy the shortcuts there and drag them to the desktop if you wish. Hope that helps.
