To Jonathan: Thank you for this message, and sorry I did not answer it
before this. I must admit I like Linux but have a problem with all the
typing as I have arthritis in ALL my joints of my hands.I have found
out, through my local computer club and a Linux SIG, that, yes, you are
correct that there are some voice dictation programs being worked on
that are not ready for prime time, yet. It is a shame that IBM reneged
on its support for open source programming as they had a Linux program
but abandoned it by selling it to NUANCE which in turn dropped the Linux
version, entirely. For that reason I have no faith in IBM and never
will, as that is not the only software program they dropped, as OS-2 was
a major player for a short while, also. :-(

such as voice dictating
Tell the voice recognition companies to get their act
together, and pay attention to the real world.
Ask them why they won't release their software under an Open
Source Licence.
someone would get that through their head and make that voice dictating
program available, NOW! :-)
FWIW, there are programs that do voice input/voice
recognition for Linux. They just aren't very good.
