I have windows vista. I downloaded the software and I am unable to extract it
Why are you trying to "extract" the contents of the installer program? You simply run (eg. double click) the self extracting installer".exe" file and it will automatically extract and start the installation process. If you are getting error messages, check the md5sum of the file you downloaded. Information about this can be found here: http://download.openoffice.org/2.4.0/md5sums.html Hope this helps.
