In addition to earlier suggestion you might also find the getting
started
guide and other online manuals helpful. The getting started guide is

Hi,
Just wanted to add one point to this. Version 4 of the Getting Started
Guide was released by oooAuthors yesterday - it will at least be a
small amount of time before the wiki will be updated with this latest
release. If you are going to be running OpenOffice.org 2.4 then you
would want to get a copy of this version. Currently it can be found (
in separate chapter form only ) at
http://oooauthors.org/en/authors/userguide2/gettingstarted/GS_V2_4/

I wish they'd list the file dates again. I used to go in and see if
anything had changed, by checking the date. I much prefer the previous
page for the books.
