I'm not sure where you are looking, but the MOD() function does exist in Calc. It is listed in the help text (under Mathematical Functions) and appears in the Function Wizard - again under Mathematical.
If you are seeing #NAME?, one possibility is that you are separating the parameters with a comma (Excel style), rather than with semi-colon that Calc requires.
